Nissan vehicles get high marks in J.D. Power survey
Nissan vehicles got high marks in a survey released Wednesday by J.D. Power and Associates. The 2006 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study measures “owner delight” with the design, content, layout and performance of new vehicles.
According to a news release from J.D. Power, Nissan tied for 18th out of 37 models that were ranked, but the car maker had three segment-leading models, which was more than any other brand. The Murano was the top-ranked midsize sport utility vehicle; the Armada ranked highest among large SUVs and the Titan was the top pickup. In addition, the Xterra tied for second among compact SUVs, while the Quest ranked third among vans.
The Tokyo-based car maker (NASDAQ: NSANY) also sells cars under the Infiniti brand, which ranked fifth in the survey. Infiniti’s M-series ranked highest in the midsize premium car segment, while the QX56 was tops among large premium SUVs.
According to the news release, the study found that new models or those that have been redesigned generally score higher than average on the survey. Nissan, whose North American headquarters is relocating to Nashville, is preparing to launch several new or redesigned models in the U.S. this year.
The survey’s top-ranked brand overall was Porsche.
